Rebuilding our Trust in Transit

Rebuilding our Trust in Transit

Institution: Carleton University

CSWB plan priority / Ottawa's 2023-2026 Term of Council priority: A City that is more connected with reliable, safe and accessible mobility options

Project Term: Winter 2025

Course Code: BUSI 4414A

Professor(s): Robert Helal

Group Member(s): Marianne El-Abras, Simon Jones, Carver White, Kurt Camhit

Objective(s): This project aims to identify transit-user groups in Ottawa that are highly reliant on or underserved by public transit. This analysis informs changes to services that will increase transit reliability and overall ridership.

Potential for Impact: The overarching goal of our project is to provide data-driven insights to optimize OC Transpo’s service reliability and rebuild public trust in Ottawa’s transit system. By leveraging our predictive and descriptive modelling we’ll be able to serve as a foundation for proactive transit planning and contribute to a more sustainable and accessible transit system. In the long-term our project aims to improve public transportation reliability, reduce delays, and increase ridership so that Ottawa becomes a city that is more connected with reliable, safe and accessible transit options.

Indigenous Affirmation

We pay respect to the Algonquin people, who are the traditional guardians of this land. We acknowledge their longstanding relationship with this territory, which remains unceded.

We pay respect to all Indigenous people in this region, from all nations across Canada, who call Ottawa home. We acknowledge the traditional knowledge keepers, both young and old. And we honour their courageous leaders: past, present, and future.
